In 2010, a mother in a “desperate situation” fled from a restaurant in Mulhouse without paying with her four children. A decade later, consumed with remorse, she sent a 50 euro bill.

Alsace is unusual. Let’s go back ten years. “Data-reactid =” 24 “> Guney Cokkaya, 23 and manager of the Le Bosphore kebab restaurant, in Mulhouse, still can’t believe it. It must be said that the story reported by Alsace is unusual. Let us go back ten years.

In 2010, a mother, accompanied by her four children, pushes the doors of her establishment to eat there. When it comes time to pay the 50 euro bill, she runs away and leaves the restaurant without paying. A sadly banal story for restaurateurs, accustomed to these practices. The story could have ended there.

“I hope you will forgive me for this”

It was without counting on the remorse of this mother of a family. Last Sunday, a man shows up and leaves a letter from a lady wishing to remain anonymous. In the missive, Guney Cokkaya discovers a 50 euro note but also a word of explanation.

“Hello sir, the boss of the Bosphorus. I give you this letter with 50 euros to return your money. In 2010, I had eaten with my four children. I had just come out of a divorce, the situation was desperate and I left without paying. I recently remembered this story. I hope you will forgive me for this. (……) Forgive me, I sincerely regret ”, says the letter.

Obviously, the owner, who was only 13, knew nothing about this story. No more than his father who ran the establishment at the time of the facts. “He doesn’t remember it. But it must be said that, like everyone in the restaurant business, we see all kinds of things! ”, Says the manager.

The beautiful story was widely shared on social networks to the great surprise of Guney Cokkaya who sees in this story a great lesson to be learned: “We must not judge people too quickly!”, He concludes.
