PepsiCo pushes the pawns of its growth in sub-Saharan Africa

The pandemic as a source of motivation

PepsiCo SSA was created following the acquisition of Pioneer Foods. An important deal negotiated for two years and which received the approval of the South African competition court only last March. Moreover, the appointment of Tertius Carstens constitutes a strategic review, since Eugene Willemsen, at the time vice-president of the unit in charge of franchises was announced at the head of the new entity. The choice of Carstens could be justified in particular by its deep knowledge of the market. The South African manager has spent 26 years in the ranks of Pioneer Foods in various positions, managing important affairs throughout southern Africa and Nigeria. He will head a dedicated team and sit on the Africa, Middle East and South Asia executive committee.
